What is CAM?
CAM is a common acronym for Common Area Maintenance. The fee is generally charged in addition to the base rent rate on a lease. It generally covers the tenant’s share of property taxes, casualty insurance and other common area expenses for trash, water, sewer, landscape maintenance, outside lighting and other exterior items. CAM does not cover maintenance expenses inside the tenant space.
